Star Wars chess

An intergalactic war of chess.

Lego Star Wars characters and yummy cake!

The chess board made from a layered chocolate sponge covered in chocolate paste. Toy figures are  mounted on chocolate discs to make them more stable. Movable pieces allowed the children to play a game of chess before they ate the cake.

A cake on three wheels. Trotters Independent Trading company van made famous on TV. (Only fools and horses) This 3D scale model is painted and sign written like the real one sits on its wheels and so can be viewed from any angle.  Design could be adapted for weddings and other celebrations.

Stuck in the chocolate swamp on Dagobah. Similar to the pigs in mud cake but features R2-D2, C3PO, Princess Leia, Hans Solo, Luke, an Ewok and Yoda relaxing after their successful battle against the Dark side.

Mickey mouse, bursts out of a birthday parcel. Mickey sits on this two layer butter cream filled cake and is easily lifted off to allow problem free cutting. Mickey is carved and sculpted from cake, rice crispy bars and chocolate, tasting as good as he looks.

As happy as pigs in mud, this plain two layer jam and butter cream sponge cake is surrounded with KitKat fingers and topped with chocolate ganache. The personalized pigs swim in the mud reading their favorite books and magazines.

Minecraft TNT cake, nine sticks of dynamite complete with edible wires and a timer.  Four layers of plain sponge filled with jam and butter cream, decorated with icing fed at least 20 with some to spare.

The perfect birthday party cake.

Even a little girl who was as fond of ballet as she is RaaRar the noisy lion is no problem!

This cake has a beautiful little girl sat on a lily leaf at the foot of a jungle waterfall scene. View the cake jungle.

This cake was ideal for the 40 people that came along to the party. Two and a half tier jam and butter cream filled sponge cake covered in chocolate paste mounted on boards so easily split for cutting. Decorated with chocolate animal shapes. Beautiful table decoration could be viewed  from any angle.

The “deadly 60” snake cake. A very realistic chocolate cake copy of a snake, complete with fangs, fork tongue and hand painted sugar diamond eyes.The body covered in textured chocolate paste with hand painted decoration.  The child liked the head so much he had his dad saw it off so no one else could eat it. The body was cut up and devoured in seconds!

For the man that has every thing! A chainsaw cake. This has an orange madeira sponge body, layered with buttercream, covered in chocolate paste and decorated with lots of authentic chain saw detail nessled on a bed of milk chocolate sawdust. The blade crafted from a single piece of while chocolate measured 16″ in length. Size does matter in the wood cutting world!

This pie shaped chocolate cake filled with dark chocolate fudge, malteesers, smarties,crunchy bar pieces and topped with a white chocolate shell.Complete with a chocolate black bird in the top. You don`t cut this cake you smash it with its own hammer.

The client had looked at other Hello Kitty cakes and wanted something different than a flat picture, So I designed and created this 3D  cake. The top could easily be removed to aid cutting the cake. The base cake ( pink satin cushion) was a double layer of plain sponge filled with  jam and butter cream and covered in chocolate paste, with added braid and tassel decoration finished with the child`s name mounted on red stars across the board.

Pirate cake

This pirate  galleon cake was was made for someone special. The cake made from a chocolate sponge and filled with chocolate fudge butter cream featured lots of ship details such as cannons, rope and rigging, piles of cannon balls, with added lego figures to make it that little bit more special for the little one. The ship sits on a base of blue butter cream sea splashing on the chocolate rocks and swimming dolphins.

Star Trek party

This cake was designed and made for my brothers Star Trek birthday party.

The 2 tier cake made from plain sponge cake with a butter cream filling looked out of this world! If you are familiar with Star Trek and the Borg you will know the cube is surrounded by a lattice of pipes and wires. This was recreated using intricately piped sheets of chocolate added in layers with hand painted details. The photos really don`t do it full justice.

Holiday in the sun

This cake was designed for an 18th Birthday, a young mans dream boobs and beer. Figure made from a sponge filled with butter cream covered in white chocolate paste and dressed in a milk chocolate bikini with flower decoration and sugar jewel in centre. The crispy cake drinks can is wrapped with printed graphics from an actual can of larger, with butter cream glittered throth dribbling into her belly button. Note the heart shaped tattoo with the young mans name above it making it a bit more personal. Mounted on an specially constructed angled board to give it a visually impressive 3D look.

Family pet

This cake was designed and made for a little girls 9th Birthday. The saugage dog made from chocolate cake with chocalate butter cream and covered in milk chocolate paste finished with a milk chocolate printed bow and sugar star on its collar. Devoured at a children`s party in minutes with nothing but the board left!

This Birthday cake was designed and made for a member of the Land Rover Club. Copied with exact detail from photos supplied by the family. The vehical mounted on a base cake  with printed pictures from a haynes manual for this model.(Lots of reaserch for this one) Many details included such as coil over suspention springs, spare wheel, tools and dirty wraggs, in the back, every thing edible!

Celebrating a new arrival to the family is a special occasion and one that has lost of meaning to the parents and their friends and family.

With this in mind a brief was given to Combine Cakes to produce a cake featuring Brian (an adopted monkey) holding the new baby in a towel covered in pineapples and parsnips (don’t ask why). The plain sponge cake is covered in milk chocolate fur and contrasting dark chocolate face. The baby and blanket are sculpted from icing and hand painted to pick out the pineapple and parsnip design.

Kids just can’t help but like dinosaurs! This carved chocolate cake was covered in white chocolate paste and hand piped decoration added to create its boney spine, then coloured in dark reds and greens.

This life size cockerel chocolate cake was made for a young poultry farmer. Every feather was hand made from a flakes of white chocolate. This cake was truly worth 1st prize!

This white chocolate 3 tier suit case cake came complete with replica chocolate passports, air line tickets and matching luggage lables, a honeymoon check list and pencil.

The centre case embossed with the brides initials bulging with sexy under wear and on top a personalised bride (copy of brides designer dress and flowers) , groom with long hair and dark chocolate dog figure.

Made to celebrate Julie’s birthday at Stonebroom Pre-School.

This cake may look small but it was around 7″ tall! The top bun was made from madera cake and the bottom was an orange cake, with a giant chocolate cookie for the burger in the middle.

Every detail was made out of chocolate, even the cheese and tomatoes. The cake looked so realistic that some of the children (who did not like cucumber) refused to eat it until they found out it was chocolate!

The gift of a John Deere maze forage Harvester (supplied by the client) inspired this cake. Harvesting a field of individual hand made maze stems each with its own corn on the cob, all made from chocolate and hand painted.

Any Star Wars fan will recognise the X wing fighter being raised from the swamp by Luke Skywalker using the Force, under the watch full eye of Master Yoda. This milk chocolate covered cake has cast chocolate wings and engines then detailed with hand piped dark chocolate.

This cake was full of personal details, the garden potting shed full of Ofsted evidence (a teacher!!) not plants, her cats, and loads of her favourite flowers, it even had a chocolate covered rivita biscuit for the potting shed door. (So you can have your cake and still be on a diet!)
